Through excellence in education, we empower students with the capacity, character, and confidence to pursue their ideals and thrive in a dramatically changing and diverse world.
Established in 1958, the Halifax Grammar School is the leading independent, co-educational day school in Atlantic Canada.
At Grammar, we believe all students should discover their passions and develop their potential. Every day, we prepare students for university and life by developing confidence and independence through a balanced curriculum in academics, athletics, altruism, and the arts—because when young people recognize their reason and purpose in life, they always make the world a better place.
Today’s Grammar School enrols 570 students in one campus from Junior Primary to Grade Twelve.
For a guided tour, or to arrange for your child to spend a day at the school, call our Admissions Assistant, Faith-Anne Kyle, at (902) 406-3001.
Enhance the school's academic programming; develop an integrated approach to student wellness; explore a self-funded supplementary English as an additional language offering; pilot an artist-in-residence program with a view to potentially expanding the concept to other areas.
Develop parent-led and school-endorsed entrepreneurship and innovation activities for our students; establish a parent/alumni-led and school-endorsed Speaker Series, Annual Career Day, and possibly an Alumni Mentorship Program; increase philanthropic support of the School.
Achieve and maintain the optimal student enrolment range; maintain predictable annual tuition increases of no more than a percentage or two above COLA; increase our endowment fund by $1-2 M; repay the school's debt as quickly as possible.
