Here at Grammar, we recognize athletic participation is a way for students to grow and learn the values of self-discipline, teamwork and leadership skills. Athletics, both competitive and recreational, are a cornerstone of the educational process and experience. We believe students deserve the opportunity to participate and compete at levels appropriate to their skill and interest.
The Halifax Grammar School has membership and competes for championships in the following sport governing bodies:
Nova Scotia Schools Athletic Federation (NSSAF)
Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS)
Metro Junior High Athletic Association (MJHAA)
Atlantic Conference of Independent Schools (ACIS).
The entire faculty, administrators, staff, and coaches of the Halifax Grammar School work to achieve these goals, and support the principles of the membership organizations.
Daily physical education classes allow students to develop coordination and skill as team players. They have a lot of fun at the same time. Extra-curricular sports include running club, sports club, swimming, cross-country, and badminton.
A robust physical education program combines regular physical education classes, with a wide variety of competitive sports. Grammar competes in the Nova Scotia public school league, as well as with other independent schools, locally and nationally.
