Congratulations to Grade Twelve students Simon Law, who recently received the Queen's University Chancellor's Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate superior academic ability, creative and original thinking, involvement in school or community activities, and proven leadership qualities. The Chancellor's Scholarship one of Queen's Major Admissions Awards, and is valued at $36,000.

"Obviously, I was very pleased to hear that I received this scholarship, as it is a substantial financial contribution to my university expenditures, as well as a great honour," says Simon. "Overall, it was a great lift to my spirits and recognition of the hard work I've been putting in in my final year of high school. I received the email on my birthday as an extra bonus!"

Simon, who will be studying engineering, has the ultimate goal to work either in the sustainable energy sector, the transport sector, or the space travel industry. As a competitive swimmer, he has been in touch with the head coach for the Queen's swim team and intends to swim during his time at Queen's. Simon credits his time at Grammar in helping him to balance school and extra-curricular activities.

"As a lifetime Grammar student, I have taken to heart Grammar's pillars of balancing your education between academics, athletics, the arts, and altruism, and have incorporated this philosophy into my everyday life. I train at a high level (about sixteen hours a week), perform academically, and play three instruments throughout the average week," says Simon."The time management skills I have learned to balance my busy schedule will stay with me all my life."
