30 Under 30 - Koumbie '12 and Alfred Burgesson '15

Congratulations to Grammar alumni, Koumbie '12 and Alfred Burgesson '15, for being one of the Atlantic Business Magazine's 30 Under 30 Innovators. Koumbie, an actor, director, writer and producer and Alfred, Founder and CEO of Tribe network are true inspirations to young entrepreneurs,
 
Koumbie is an award winning actor, director, writer and producer. In front of the camera she has appeared in a number of local productions with roles on shows including YTV’s Aquateam, CBC’s Mr. D, Studio Black, Diggstown, and the final season of Outtv’s Sex & Violence. Since going behind the camera, Koumbie has directed a number of award winning short films, including the Short Film Face-Off winner Hustle & Heart.

Alfred is a former Prime Minister’s Youth Council member — he is also the co-chair of Canada’s first-ever ‘State of the Youth’ Report. Before launching Tribe Network, Alfred supported the African Canadian Senate Group and the office of Senator Colin Deacon as project lead, gathering data and insights on the current state of Black Entrepreneurs and Business Owners in Canada. Alfred is one of two alumni that sit on the Halifax Grammar School Board of Directors.
 
Both Koumbie and Alfred have returned to Grammar on many occasions to give their time and expertise to our students. Whether in the arts, athletics, altruism or academics, our alumni continue to amaze us. We are proud of you, Koumbie and Alfred, for making an impact on Atlantic Canada.
