Ryrie Vernon “Vern” Vandewater was a towering figure in the class of 2001. He loved the NFL and his team Indianapolis Colts. In his honour, we’re hosting a Super Bowl Virtual Tailgate Party! Super Bowl Sunday is the perfect opportunity for classes of 1999, 2000, 2001 & 2002 (all those who knew him) to get together virtually, have a drink, share a story or two, bet on football and have a fun hour together online.

To start 2022 we need to find things to celebrate and after a tragic and sudden loss in 2021, we should celebrate our classmate Ryrie. Proceeds are in direct support of Ryrie's family.

To be part of the pool click here to choose your picks. Next, etransfer Adam Conter at conter@gmail.com (make the answer to the security question is: Grammar) to complete your entrance into the pool. The amount you give is completely up to you and will be kept confidential. All contributions will be in direct support of Ryrie's family. You do not have to attend the party to participate in the pool.

Prize for Superbowl Pool: Basket of Grammar swag, Compass Distillers' Box Set of Gin, and a $100 gift certificate for Dear Friend (if outside of Halifax, restaurant of your choice).

Start the party off with a live cocktail demo of a Classic Daiquiri. Matt, owner of Dear Friend, has provided a complete list of ingredients and supplies. See the below list to ensure you have everything you need prior to the event.

Please feel free to extend this invitation to anyone you may feel would like to join. All are welcome. You do not have to attend the party to participate in the pool.

    Matt has provided the list of ingredients and tools you can have ready prior to the event.

    THE CLASSIC DAIQUIRI

    Ingredients: 
    Unaged or "White" Rum; I reach for Bacardi Superior
    Fresh Lime Juice (2 limes, because you'll probably want to make 2)
    Simple Syrup (1 part sugar to 1 part water, stirred until dissolved)
    Ice --> lots!
     
    Tools: 
    Cocktail Shaker or Mason Jar
    Jigger or Measuring Spoons
    Knife & Cutting Board
    Tea Strainer 
    Rocks Glass or Coupe Glass if you're feeling fancy
    Citrus Press for juicing limes
    Sugar
    Water
