Model United Nations

The Model United Nations (MUN) trip was a hard-earned success for the many students that attended. Twenty-four delegates, led by Ms. Brock and Anastasia Safina, traversed the snowy streets of downtown Toronto and the University of Toronto St. George’s campus. For some, UTMUN was their very first MUN conference, but everybody, including first-timers, did a fantastic job in their committees and had a splendid time on the trip. Smiles frequented our faces, and the disappointment of missing the final committee session was palpable during the flight back to Halifax. Friends were made, laughs were had, and even a few awards were granted: Frank Wang (representing South Africa in the Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Committee), Rebeccah Raphael (representing USA in the United Nations Human Rights Committee), and Sam Peapell (representing Queen Meve in the Witcher Crisis Committee) all received Honourable Mentions, and Christopher Roberts (representing Ivan Mikhailovich in the Appanage Russia Crisis Committee) received an award for Outstanding Delegate. A huge thank you to Mr. Moffatt and Mr. Whynot for being our other chaperones this trip, and one to Ms. Baigent for all her help with organizing the club! Finally, for all their hard work in preparing the twenty-three of us, thank you to Ms. Brock and Anastasia—none of us could have succeeded without you.
