On Sunday, February 4, thirteen Prep School Chess Club members, both past and present, participated in a Nova Scotia Scholastic Chess Association event. The event consisted of 66 students from Grades One to Twelve, and it was open to students from across Nova Scotia. This event was held in the Paul O’Regan Hall at the Halifax Central Library.
Each Grammar participant represented the school well. Students played five matches, which lasted approximately 30 minutes each. Many students marveled at the caliber of players involved, and each learned a few new maneuvers that they did not consider using prior to the event.
The Nova Scotia Scholastic Chess Association runs these events monthly and most are free to enter. For more information visit the website at www.nssca.ca.
The following participants are to be commended for their level of play at the event.
