Grammar celebrates World Language and Culture Day

On Friday, April 24, we held our third annual World Language and Culture Day. This event, which has become a favourite in Grammar's yearly calendar, includes an afternoon of wonderful food and entertainment, and a celebration of the rich diversity of our school community.  Our new Head Girl, Dimitra Tsimiklis, hosted the entertainment portion of our event this year, which featured student and staff performances of poetry, music and dance. We raised $954.97 for Feed Nova Scotia.

It was great to see this event spread into the Prep School this year. Student travellers had the opportunity to visit different stations experiencing traditional food and music; greeted by many Grammar parents in traditional dress, they sampled food and got their passports stamped.

My thanks to the entire Grammar community for the ongoing support of our event, with particular thanks to Lama Abdellatif Dajani and her team who worked so hard to extend the event into the Prep School this year.

Special thanks to the following parents for all of their assistance with this year’s event: Jennifer Abbass, Zainab Abidali, Mary Boutros, Penny Gountas, Anju Isaac, GhleeMacLeod, Anila Najaf, Rui Nickerson, Victoria Reardon Hulme, Nancy Xiang.

Thank you to the teachers of the Language Department: Stefanie Cox, Jean Little, Olivia Montalvo-March, Jenna Pelham, and Jennifer Trott-Zisserson. Thanks, also, to Étienne Beaulé'18 for his technical assistance.
