Universities recognize that skills developed in the IB Diploma program are the foundation of post-secondary success. Some universities even offer scholarships specifically for IB students. Dalhousie and Acadia are two such universities, and between them they have offered IB scholarships to ten HGS graduating students. That’s nearly a quarter of the grad class!
These scholarships offer significant financial support to recipients: Acadia’s is $31,500, while Dalhousie’s comes in a $20,000 or $16,000 package. Both are offered primarily based on academic excellence, with secondary consideration given to other aspects such as leadership ability, service and extra-curricular.
“The fact that so many of our graduates have been offered these scholarships is something we can all be very proud of,” said Laura Brock, IB Coordinator. “It speaks to the reputation of our school, of IB, and most of all to the hard work these students have put into their education.”
HGS students offered Dalhousie IB scholarships are: Simon Herbinger Inhwa Kim Quinn Stewart Lara Casha (plus C.D. Howe Scholarship) Maya Gantar Jake Megaffin Marc Cameron
HGS students offered Acadia IB scholarships are: William Bluteau Allison Surrett (plus BMO Scholarship) Frankie Gnann
Please note not all of these students have chosen to accept the offer.
