HGS Boys Finish Second in Grammar Classic

The 8th Annual Grammar Classic invitational basketball tournament was held at The Tower from November 21 to 23, with 12 boys and girls teams from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundand, and New Brunswick competing. Horton High School was the girls champion and Charlottetown Rural High School defeated HGS in the boys championship. Lauren Joudrey and Brayden White were named the tournament's MVPs and were the happy recipients of  29” Smart TVs. All players were entered in a raffle for a third Smart TV. Heritage Memorials Ltd. provided the granite championship trophies and granite keepers for the top defensive players, and Cleve’s provided gift certificates for the all-stars. The players were supported by raucous crowds of students and a Middle School band during spirit games.

Thanks to our sponsors and program advertisers for their valuable support, to alumni parent Joan Penney for running the always popular tournament hospitality suite, to the basketball parents and alumni parents for their time selling tickets at the gate, and to the HGS student council for inviting players in the tournament to a school dance.
