Campaign Volunteers Announced

Last year, parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends of HGS contributed more than $80,000 in support of the school’s most immediate and pressing needs. It may surprise you, but tuition alone does not entirely cover the educational and programming costs of operating the school. As with previous years, our top priority was accessibility - keeping HGS accessible to all deserving students through growing our financial assistance and bursary program. In addition to student assistance, donors also designated thousands of dollars towards athletic programs, library acquisitions, classroom technologies, art and music supplies, and teaching equipment.

In the coming weeks you will receive a letter from one of the dedicated volunteers listed below. Please remember that a gift of any size can make a significant difference and play a role in making HGS the special place it is today.

Scott & Stella Balfour – Current Parent campaign
The Balfours are a recent addition to the Grammar family. Their three boys, Sean S1, Michael M3 and Nicholas M3 enrolled with us last year. In that time, Stella has already become an active volunteer with the Parents’ Activities Committee.

Philip Welch & Elvira Gonella-Welch – Grandparent campaign
The Welch family has a long history with the Grammar School, which dates back to the 1970s. Three of their children, Jonathan’77, Andrew’80, and Alison’83, and four of their grandchildren, Siobhan’11, Mark’13, Iain S3, Joshua S1, have attended HGS.

Matt Moffatt & Laura Brock - Faculty & Staff campaign
Although this couple likely needs no introduction, for those who don’t know, Matt is the head of our Senior School and Laura is the IB Coordinator and Academic Advisor for the Senior School. They have two children enrolled at the school: Cameron S1 and Andrew M4. Matt and Laura have been supporting the Senior School library with a monthly gift for many years.

David Finlayson’93 – Alumni campaign
‘Fin’ has been an active member of the alumni community since graduating in 1993. He has coached soccer and basketball teams, volunteered for the alumni association and played a key role organizing his class’s 20 year class reunion this past summer.

Robert & Beverly Jackson – Alumni Parent campaign
The Jackson family has generously supported the school for many years. Bev is an active volunteer with the Advancement Office and they have made the Grammar school one of their charities of choice. Their two children Andrew and Lesley graduated in 1990 and 1993 respectively.
