Pillar of Altruism at Grammar

The Pillar of Altruism held strong in the final semester of 2021 - 22 academic year.

In February, one of our faculty members, Miss Jannaecia Lewis, prepared African and Carribean meal prep kits as part of a fundraiser for The Dr. Harris L. Barton Scholarship, established by Grammar parent and Saint Mary's University Social Justice and Community Studies Assistant Professor, Dr. Rachel B. Zellars, in honor of a Grammar alumnus.

Bake sales were organized by Prep and Middle School students to raise funds for Feed Nova Scotia and Shelter Nova Scotia, respectively.

Our senior school student, Sasha Anderson, organized a soft toy donation drive to collect toys for kids affected by the war in Ukraine. Also, Pearla El-Rabahi and her team organized a series of fundraisers throughout the year and donated $2401.40 towards Make a Wish Foundation.

Even as school officially ended on June 9, a few of our students, staff and faculty volunteered their time at the annual Ronald McDonald house PJ walk on June 12, 2022, which is the biggest fundraiser for the organization. This was a perfect end to all the meals prepared by our students at the Ronald McDonald house every week.

We cannot wait to seek out new opportunities to serve our community in the following academic year.
