Our Grammar athletes have certainly been busy this spring!

Table Tennis

Our Jr. Boys team is made up of students in grades 7 and 8. The team that competed at regionals was Will Hardman (M4), Duncan MacLeod (M3), and Declan Baskett (M3). The boys won the regional qualifier and earned their right to represent our School at the provincial championships on Saturday, May 5 at North Kings Education Centre in Canning, NS. It is with great pleasure that I inform you all that the boys won the provincial championship with an exciting win over Wolfville Junior High School. A special thank you to George and Ghlee MacLeod and Clayton Hardman for taking the boys down to the tournament.

Track and Field
Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, the ACIS track and field meet was canceled this year. There will be no rain date due to the availability of the competing schools from outside the city to arrange transportation for another day.

Metro City Championships
Wednesday, May 16 and Thursday, May 17 at Beazley field from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All parents and alumni are encouraged to come out and watch more than 60 students athletes competing in various events throughout the two-day competition. Any athletes who qualify for Regionals will move onto the Regional track meet held again at Beazley field on May 23 and 24. Provincials are in Sydney, NS on June 1 and 2.

Ultimate Frisbee ACIS Competition
This was the first annual ACIS Ultimate Frisbee Co-ed competition in which we had 7 different teams from 5 different independent schools competing at the BMO Soccer dome in Clayton Park. There were two teams of Halifax Grammar School athletes competing in the tournament with 15 athletes on each team. Both teams made it on to the semi-finals and eventually HGS team 2 won the championship game versus Rothesay Netherwood School in an exciting final game in which the Grammar team stormed back in the second half to win 7-5 after being down 5-2 in the first half.  This was a successful event in which we look forward to building on in the future.
