Grammar's badminton team competes in Metro City Championships

Our Badminton team competed in the Metro City championships on Wednesday, April 4 and Thursday, April 5 at Citadel High School.

Jr. Team: 
Boys singles: Austin Hache made it onto the crossover round in which he finished 7th overall. 
Boys doubles: Tim Safine and Will Hardman finished with a Bronze medal. 
Mixed doubles: Jeffrey Xu and Britt Drysdale finished with a Silver medal. 
Girls doubles: Anna Wuensch and Jessica Warr were round robin participants and did not advance onto the crossovers. 
 
Intermediate team: 
Boys singles: Yangcen Mei was a round robin participant and did not advance onto the crossovers. 
Boys doubles: Gelly Gu and Yifan Yang were round robin participants and did not advance onto the crossovers. 
Girls Singles: Lily Reid WON the intermediate girls' division and earned Grammar a Gold medal in the competition. 
Girls doubles: Wajiha Zubair and Haniya Qadeer were round robin participants and did not advance onto the crossovers. 
Mixed Doubles: Sophie McKegney and Seamus Adams finished 4th in the division. 
 
Senior team: 
Boys singles: Michael Su made it onto the crossover round in which he finished 8th overall. 
Boys doubles: Mike Balfour and Ian Keefe were round robin participants and did not advance onto the crossovers.
Mixed doubles: Rachel Zhou and Moaaz Ahmad finished 1-4 in the round robin. 
 
The team is competing in the upcoming ACIS tournament on Saturday, April 14 and Lily Reid is moving onto to the Halifax Regional city tournament on Wednesday, April 11 at Citadel High school. Good luck Lily!

In other badminton news, Sophie McKegney was awarded the U15 Provincial Badminton Champion and winner of the Girls Sportsmanship Award. Way to go, Sophie!
