Edie Wilson'18 accepted into Dartmouth College
Congratulations to Edie Wilson'18 on her recent acceptance into Dartmouth College!
The Grammar community would like to congratulate Edie Wilson on her acceptance into Dartmouth College, an Ivy League university located in Hanover, New Hampshire. Edie has attended Grammar since Grade One. Edie is a member of the Senior Varsity Basketball team, Soccer team, Track and Field, and Grammar’s Junior Achievement team.
Halifax Grammar School (HGS):What was your reaction to being accepted into Dartmouth?
Edie Wilson (EW): I was very excited when I found out that I had gotten accepted to Dartmouth, but I think my dad may have been even more excited than me. He graduated from Dartmouth (Class of 1990) with a major in Engineering. He jumped higher than me when we found out!
HGS: What do you plan to study?
EW: I plan on studying Neuroscience and Engineering Sciences.
HGS: As a competitive track athlete, will you be trying out for Dartmouth’s track team?
EW: I will definitely be trying out for the track team. One of the reasons that I picked Dartmouth over other schools was because I was recruited to run on the track team next year and because everyone on the team is so nice!
HGS: What lessons/experiences did you learn from your time at Grammar that you will take to university and beyond?
EW: Grammar has taught me the lesson of how to balance a heavy workload and extracurriculars. One thing that was always emphasized to us as Grammar students were how important it was to get involved in our school community, whether it be through sports, student council, or one of the many other clubs that are offered. As Grammar students, we are given so many outlets to express ourselves and be parts of our community, and I will definitely take the willingness to try new activities and be involved in my community with me to Dartmouth College next year.
More than anything, HGS has given me a group of friends who have practically become my family. I am so thankful for them, along with all of the other opportunities that come with being a Grammar School student.
