Congratulations to the HGS Class of 2016!

Grad Week was held from June 6-10, an opportunity to celebrate the HGS Class of 2016.
The week of June 6-10, 2016 was an exciting one for the 48 students graduating from HGS. We wish the best to the grads and look forward to hearing about their future accomplishments at alumni events.

The annual Lifer Dinner was held on Thursday, June 2 at the Saraguay Club. The twelve Lifers (students who have attended HGS since Grade Primary) and their families celebrated the past thirteen years at Grammar and the success of their children. Gay Silverman, former Head of Prep School Marjorie Cooper, Ms. Laura Brock and Mr. Steven Laffoley'84 all shared fond memories of the grads.

Prom was a huge success this year with it's Casino Royale theme at the Harbourfront Marriott on Monday, June 6. Due to the rainy weather, students and their families gathered at the Alexander Keith’s brewery beforehand for photos.

The Class of 2016 was officially inducted into the HGS Alumni Association on June 8, 2016. The New Alumni Reception was held at the Stubborn Goat Gastropub, with students, alumni, faculty and staff in attendance. Dara Liu and Kelvin Mansaray were selected as the Class of 2016 representatives. This year's class had many alumni siblings and it was great to have them join us in the celebrations!

Grad Dinner was a beautiful evening held at the Westin Nova Scotia where parents, grandparents, faculty, staff and alumni all came together to celebrate each of this year's grads. Guests enjoyed a number of speeches, including a toast to the parents by Katherine Morris and Toby Partridge, Claire Neilson commemorated the HGS faculty, and Kim Turner’s (parent of Katherine and Patrick Morris’13) speech to the students about their futures was truly inspiring. Head of Senior School Matt Moffatt did his annual student roast, sharing special memories of each of the graduates.

This year's Graduation Ceremony was held on Friday, June 10. Headmaster Blayne Addley's gave his final address to the community and shared some words of wisdom to the graduating class. We had some amazing musical performances by our students, including Nika Gantar (When We Were Young by Adele), Aria Publicover (Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera) and Kathleen MacDonald accompanied by Maryanne Sadek on piano (Fools Rush In by Elvis Presley). Valedictorian (and HGS Lifer) Thomas Fraser’s speech was funny, sentimental and insightful of he and his classmates’ time at Grammar.
