In our community, we have a significant number of students in our Prep, Middle, and Senior schools with nut allergies. For them, ingesting or merely coming in contact with nuts may cause reactions from mild discomfort to anaphylactic shock leading to death.
Since HGS believes in providing a safe and secure learning environment, we have moved to a “nut free” community.
To achieve this, the following information, to be periodically reviewed throughout the year, has been communicated to our faculty and students.
· Products containing nuts should not be consumed at school, nor should products containing nuts be brought into the school.
· Students, parents, and faculty have a responsibility to ensure that their lunches and snacks contain only nut free products.
Though we can never guarantee a completely nut-free environment our goal is to all but eliminate nut products at the Halifax Grammar School. With your support we can make this happen.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Blayne Addley, Headmaster
