The Halifax Grammar School is governed by an elected Board of Governors consisting of the Headmaster, elected parents, up to four members from the community at large and two teachers elected by the staff.
The School Management Team includes the Headmaster, who is responsible for all aspects of the school's operation, the Heads of the Prep, Middle, and Senior Schools, the Director of Finance and Facilities and the Director of Development & Alumni Affairs.
The Head of the Prep School, the Head of the Middle School and the Head of the Senior School direct the day-to-day operations of their respective schools, and are responsible for student discipline, and the academic and social progress of each student. Each homeroom teacher assumes an advisory role with each of his/her homeroom students provides frequent informal communication with parents and subject teachers, and gives individual help and encouragement to students as required.
Finance & Facilities maintains the school capital and monetary assets including the maintenance, building and booking of our facilities as well as billing, account management, budget and payroll.
Development and Alumni Affairs is responsible for fundraising, special events, parent relations Parents' Activities Committee, alumni affairs and school archives.
Other Admin offices include Admissions and Communications. Communications manages all external advertising, print and online media including the Grammar Newscast, various school publications, website, and any other communications enquiries. The Admissions office maintains and builds student enrolment.
The Program Administrative Team includes the Dean of Academics, the IB Coordinator, the Head of Creative Arts, the Director of IT and the Head of Physical Health and Education, who plan, coordinate and implement curriculum and program initiatives.
The Student Services Team, which includes the Director of Athletics, Dean of Students, CAS Coordinator, Student Council Advisor, Coordinator of Student Activities and Faculty House Counsellors work closely with the Student Leadership Team and help supervise, coordinate and plan Student Leadership and other activities.
